Boondocks Kennels was started in 1968. We have had several breeds and still train most of them but after watching an Olympics, training over 2,000 dogs and observing what breeds are consistently winning and setting records--we decided to go with the 'Gold' and concentrate on three breeds. As a breed, no other pointing breed compares with the English Pointer in winning in open competition on upland game birds. The English setter enjoys the same the recognition on grouse and woodcock. Many of our setters are of the belton or Ryman bloodlines, a larger variety of the breeds. To illustrate these two breeds achievements--in the last 100 years, only these two breeds have won the National Championship. In the grouse and woodcock venues, in the last 50 years, again, only these two breeds have won in open competition at the Grand National Grouse championships. The breed that earns the 'Gold' in retrievers is of course the Labrador Retriever. This recognition is apparent with the registration records of twice as many Labs registered, each year, as the next retriever breed and the championship titles earned in waterfowl open competitions. All other retriever breeds, combined, come in 'second', when comparing championships earned. Our goal, with these three breeds, is to have the bloodlines that are proven and the individuals that best represent the breed standard of that breed.
